Borin
Weaver - Siem Reap
My name is Borin, birthday: 2nd January 1985, Birthplace: Village Ta Trav, Commune: Sway Chek, District: Angkor Thom, Province: Siem Reap.
I am the weaver at CHA-Preah Dark.
When I was ten years old she stepped on landmine under a mango tree while tending cows with her friends – about 4 or 5 people. I stepped on the land mine with my left leg and lost conscious at noon, and my friends had brought me to my house, and then my family took me to Pouk Hospital in Siem Reap. Because of the seriousness of the injury, they took me to hospital in the town of Siem Reap. When I recovered from consciousness in the evening, I saw my left leg cut off under the knee and I cried a lot.
I completely lost hope and future life because of having lost one leg. I had had been very sad and disappointed for a long time. I had been for treatment at hospital for three months. I had no artificial leg until I was 18 years old when I got a new artificial leg from an NGO in Siem Reap, and then I went back home. At my home village, I had had nothing to do except stay at home, and depended on my family who were very poor. On 1st April 2003, I started learning weaving skill at CHA-Preah Dark, and then I got money from CHA to raise myself and my family while her parents were alive.
I am very happy to work at CHA in order to get the income to deal with my daily standard of living. Because of being very poor and my village in the remote country, I do not dream anything for my future, but I have tried to save money from CHA to start my small business in my village in the near future. rural area. I lived from hand to mouth under the poorest family. My father’s name is Bunn Nim and my mother’s name is Rin Reum (They were farmers and now dead).
